The Best Places to Buy Essential Oils Without Over Spending

I’ve been on a bit of an essential oil journey in the last few years. I’ve gone from a complete skeptic to one who uses oils as a part of my medicine cabinet.

While I do not think all essential oils are created equal I also don’t believe those companies who make overly large promises and their oils come with an equally large price tag.

To be honest I’ve never ordered oils from the two major oil companies but I’ve had great success with oils purchased at a fraction of the price, this post is going to highlight my favorite places to buy oils, and it may surprise you to find that I have different places for different reasons.

EDEN’S GARDEN

I’m just going to start with my absolute favorite oil company -Eden’s Garden!

THE PROS

  • their oils are top notch quality
  • they are incredibly inexpensive
  • they have great selection and some amazing blends
  • they often have sales and discounts

THE CONS

  • the only con I have for Eden’s Garden is that their shipping to Canada can get pricey. If you live in the US you don’t need to worry about this con because they have free shipping for you.

MY FAVORITE BLENDS

My favorite Eden’s Garden blends are Fighting Five (their version of Thieves oil), Purify (I love to add this to my cleaners) and Exhale (this one works so great when we are stuffy, especially when my son is having troubles breathing in his sleep, I put this in the diffuser in his room and he is breathing better in minutes).

SAJE

For my fellow Canadians, I’ve got you covered! I like a lot of the oils I have tried from Saje, which is a Canadian company.

I started out getting their Pocket Pharmacy kit a few years ago and it was nice to get to try a few different oil blends without breaking the bank.

THE PROS

  • great for Candians
  • you can shop in-store or online
  • free shipping on orders over $75
  • they have some great blends

THE CONS

  • the prices are on the higher end, though still way cheaper than the major oil companies

MY FAVORITE BLENDS

I have one oil from Saje that I have raved about for years and will continue to do so, it’s their Pain Release blend. I first got it in my Pocket Pharmacy kit and found it worked way better for headaches for me than their Peppermint Halo (which was supposed to be the headache blend), which just goes to show that some oils will work for some people and not for others, or even in different ways.

PLANT THERAPY

I stumbled across Plant Therapy when I first started my oily journey and I really like the company.

PROS

  • you can get $10 off your first order
  • inexpensive oils
  • free shipping in the US
  • free Canadian shipping on orders over $50 (they also have free shipping on orders of $50 or more to many countries)

CONS

  • this is a lame con but I don’t like how their labels look

MY FAVORITE OIL

I’m just realizing that I generally have purchased single blends from Plant Therapy. One that I was particularly excited to purchase was their Frankincense oil because it is quite an expensive oil and it is actually affordable from them.

NOW ESSENTIAL OILS

The NOW oils are a brand you can purchase in a lot of different places. I usually like to order them from Well.

PROS

  • these are very inexpensive oils
  • can often purchase from a place with free shipping
  • you can save $10 on a $40 purchase from Well.ca with the coupon code: intentionalhomemaker

CONS

  • I do feel like these maybe don’t work quite as well as the other oil companies I have shared so I mostly use my NOW oils in my diffuser and for scent related purposes, though, since I go through quite a bit of oil in my diffuser in the winter months here I like knowing I’m not spending a lot of money doing so

MY FAVORITE BLEND

I really like their Peaceful Night blend, I like to diffuse it in my kids’ rooms if they are having troubles sleeping.

And there you have it, my favorite essential oil brands/companies! If you have an inexpensive oil brand that you buy I would love to hear about it!
